Overview & Target Audience:

This activity is designed to provide primary care physicians and other primary health care providers education in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of the cancer patient. This activity will provide information on cancer screening, risk, evaluation, treatment advances, and survivorship care.

This activity has been designed for primary care physicians including: general medicine, internal medicine, and family practice, as well as primary care practice nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the primary care of patients.

Please note that most conference material will be available online. Please bring your electronic device to view presentations in real time.


Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify new advances in cancer treatment, including: immunotherapy, precision surgery and proton therapy
  • Describe imaging advances in lung cancer screening
  • Explain the latest evidence for the management of pulmonary nodules
  • Describe criteria for genetic testing
  • Identify the elements of a survivorship care plan and its utility in coordinating care between the PCP and the oncologist
