Program Overview & Target Audience:

Lewy Body Dementia Association is aiming to increase awareness of Lewy Body Dementias and the unique set of symptoms associated with the disease among primary care physicians, nurses, other healthcare professionals and caregivers. The new diagnostic criteria set in mid-2017 will be highlighted to promote early patient diagnosis and improved care throughout the disease life cycle.

This activity has been designed for primary care physicians, geriatricians, sleep specialists, psychiatrists, neurologists, radiologists, nurses, physician assistants, occupational and speech therapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals interested in Lewy Body Dementias.

Program Objectives:

At the conclusion of this symposium, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the key core and major supportive clinical features of DLB
  • Review common medication classes used to treat cognitive, behavior and motor symptoms in LBD
  • Describe nonpharmacological approaches to managing behavioral changes in LBD
  • Explain the basic underlying neuropathology causing DLB
  • List 3 symptoms that indicate caregiver stress 

Registration Fees:

The registration fees for Early Diagnosis: The Road to Better Therapies and LBD Care are the following: $49 for Physicians or Industry Representatives, $29 for Psychologists, PhD's, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Healthcare Professionals, residents and fellows.  There is no registration fee for patients and caregivers (pre-registration is still required).

The registration fee includes attendance to the conference, a course booklet, a link to view the presentation slides online, continental breakfast, mid-morning and afternoon breaks as well as lunch.

Meeting Location and Parking:

Early Diagnosis: The Road to Better Therapies and LBD will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Arthur H. Rubenstein Auditorium at the Smilow Center for Translational Research at Penn Medicine, 3400 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19104.

The Arthur H. Rubenstein Auditorium is located on the 1st Floor level of the Smilow Translational Research Center (TRC). Smilow TRC is connected to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and is located at 3400 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA. We strongly recommend you use GPS or an online driving directions site (such as mapquest. com, or for exact directions to and from your starting point.

If you prefer to take public transportation to and from campus, please visit for options.

On Friday, May 4th, The 3600 Civic Center Blvd Parking Garage is open for public parking.  This garage is accessible from Civic Center Blvd and is located at Civic Center Blvd and West Service Drive (next to the Colket Research Center).  The Smilow TRC is about a 5 minute walk from the parking garage.  Parking is $20 per day and parking fees are not paid for or reimbursed by the conference.  Parking in the garage connected to the Perelman/Smilow Centers is prohibited.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by April 20, 2018 (subject to a service charge  of $15.00). No refunds will be issued thereafter.
